Behind every successful person is a clearly defined why. Your why is what drives you to be successful. Before anything else, you should sit down and write out what being successful means to you. Does it mean you get to spend less hours away from your children? Does it mean you get to finally take that vacation you've always wanted? Does it mean you get to build that dream home that provides a safe and fun environment for your family? Maybe it's that you get to realize your dream of traveling the world and experiencing life you dream of. Write your why down and place it somewhere you will see it every single day. It will keep you inspired to take action. When the why is clear, the how is easy.
After you've written your why, it's time to choose some goals. A good goal is S.M.A.R.T.! Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timely. Some ideas are:

One of the first hurdles many new network marketers must overcome is figuring out how the heck to run a business with their already busy schedule. They get so overwhelmed with the thought of all the things they wish they could be doing and the time they wish they had instead of utilizing the time they do have. I cannot begin to stress how important it is to have a planner - this will be your BEST friend. Have everything in it that takes your time whether it be kids activities, work or other obligations. After signing up, sit down and look at that planner and the month ahead. Look at the time you do have. You will find 30 minutes here, an hour there, lunch breaks, mornings you can wake up earlier and evenings you can have to yourself. When you establish the time you DO have, it allows you to make a to-do list of actions you can take in those time slots. Don't let time be an excuse. Even Beyonce has the same 24 hours in a day!
As long as you commit to working your business in that extra 30 minutes or 5 hours that you have available, you will see your business progress! You just have to be consistent!

One of the most beautiful benefits of having your own business is that you can pretty much do it from anywhere. Whether it's checking on your emails while on a bathroom break, talking with the other moms at a soccer game, or labeling catalogs in between classes, there is always a way to work your business in many situations.
You started this business because you feel it will benefit your life in a positive way. Remember that why you came up with? The second you are scared to mention your opportunity, share your products or take an opportunity to grow in your business, the second you are nervous to do something outside of your comfort zone, remember that why. You'll then remember that the reward seriously outweighs the risk. If it doesn't, your why isn't big enough!
This is another very common hesitation for beginners. Remember that in anything you start, a hobby, a job, a sport, anything, you do not start off an expert. Always be learning but don't be afraid to learn as you go. Just go! You don't have to have all the information, you just have to know where to find it. As soon as you get your starter kit/training materials/samples from your company, start sharing. No friend would ever be turned off to supporting you if you said "girl, I just got in my samples! Come over and you can try them out with me!". No customer is going to stop buying from you if you reply to a question with "That is a really good question, I want to be sure to give you the correct answer so I will get back to you in just a couple of minutes!" They will appreciate your willingness to get them the correct info and provide good service. You have permission to jump in.
Pretty much every direct sales company has put tons of time and money into making training materials so that you can be educated about sharing their products and successful at running your business. In the corporate world and any job you've ever had, you were required to do training so that you know how to do your job, how to operate things, information about the products, etc. This is your business so training should be more important to you than ever. Invest the time into your education. Confidence comes with Comfort. The more you know about your company, it's business model, the products, the more comfortable you will be sharing it and the more quickly you will see success. MAKE THIS A PRIORTY FOR SURE.
You absolutely cannot expect people to buy products from you that you are not even using yourself. Whatever products you provide, you should be using. If you sell skincare, use the skincare! If you sell makeup, only wear that makeup. If you sell nutrition supplements, you better be getting your vitamin on! Being a product of the product builds trust. When you become a believer and expert of the product, it will be extremely attractive to your customers and your love for them will inspire them to try them too.
I can't say this enough. When I was starting out with SeneGence International, I was very much doing this. I had done another direct sales company and was worried about what people would think of me for trying something else. I would say things like "I have a marketing and branding company...oh and I do this silly little lipstick thing on the side/for fun". The minute my business took off and my $1m team started to grow was the minute I embraced the opportunityI had and didn't hesitate to share my excitement. If you aren't excited and confident about your business and you aren't your number one supporter, you cannot expect others to support you. You know you have an amazing product that people will love and an opportunity to change peoples lives the way it changed yours. Don't downplay the magic!
